Parts Work in Venice Beach
Internal Family Systems in Venice
& Inner Relationship Focusing in Venice
The Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is built upon three foundational principles:
-
Everyone has a core Self.
At the center of every person is what IFS calls the Self—a calm, compassionate, wise, and connected inner presence. Self is considered a birthright and remains fundamentally intact, regardless of trauma, adversity, or life experiences. Trauma may obscure access to Self, but it does not damage or destroy it. -
Multiplicity within:
We all contain many different parts or aspects of ourselves. These parts may hold different emotions, beliefs, roles, and experiences. Examples include an inner critic, a perfectionist, a protector, or a vulnerable wounded part. -
There are no bad parts.
Although some parts may create behaviors, emotions, or patterns that feel disruptive or self-defeating, IFS views all parts as having a positive intention. Parts develop their roles in an effort to protect us, help us survive, or prevent emotional pain. Rather than being eliminated, these parts are understood, appreciated, and helped to take on healthier roles.
True Core integrates parts work model with Somatic Approaches.
IFS and somatic practices emphasize awareness of bodily sensations, nervous system regulation, the physical manifestations of emotions and trauma.
By integrating parts work with body-based awareness, individuals can access and heal emotional experiences not only through insight and dialogue, but also through direct connection with the body's felt sense and experience.
This combination can support deeper healing, increased self-regulation, and greater integration of mind, body, spirit.
